Neil Dusheiko Architects have recently completed a renovation of a victorian house in North London. The house has been built with traditional victorian bricks and the architects wanted to maintain the integrity and style of the building while adding a modern touch and feel.Â

This meant using reclaimed victorian yellow bricks for the extension as well as reclaimed brick tiles for the floor.Â

As you can see from the images, it was important to achieve an outside-in approach blurring the lines between the garden and the inside. This was achieved by installing large windows, a skylight with a sloping roof and a window seat area that overlooks the garden. All this retains a strong connection between the out and in.

The window box seats, a perfect place for relaxing, overlooks the green garden. As it’s south-facing, this allows for the sun to shine through all year round. The window opens up 90 degrees and blurs the lines between the two areas.

The kitchen has been fitted with wooden countertops and a bespoke breakfast table is a great centrepiece for the room. The table is removable and folds away easily, which allows space for a play area for children. For the outside as well as the reclaimed London brick, wood cladding has been used to add a touch of contemporary design.Â
